The Minister
for Police and Emergency Services, the Hon. Andre Haeymeyer, launched
the new Aquatic and Recreation Signage Style Guide in March 2004.
The Guide was developed by Life Saving Victoria in conjunction
with the Aquatic Signage Steering Committee.
The signage
features a combination of existing and newly designed elements,
all of which meet Australian standards. The Guide is picture based
and uses international symbols wherever possible, ensuring that
signs can be easily understood by overseas visitors. The manual
also contains information on specific structure and installation
requirements and the prioritisation of sign-based messages.
