Victoria's coastline
is one of the State's greatest natural assets, one of people's most
treasured places and one of the most recognised in the world. To protect
and improve the sustainability and the biological diversity of the coastal
and marine environment has required joint efforts by individuals, community
groups, organisations and the Commonwealth, State and local governments.
The Victorian Coastal
Awards for Excellence are being presented in order to publicly recognise
and acknowledge the achievements of individuals, community groups, organisations,
agencies and local governments. Collectively they have played an outstanding
role in the protection and restoration of significant sites, areas and
features of the coast - be they natural, cultural, historical, visual
or built.
The Awards are
sponsored by the Victorian Coastal Council and Coast Action/Coastcare.
